| Rachel Fontenot
was born and raised in the New Orleans
area and attended the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts for four
years. She is a member of Artists on the Verge, the Louisiana
Watercolor Society, the St. Tammany Art Association, and the
National Collage Society, and has participated in numerous exhibits
and art festivals in the Gulf Coast region. Rachel has always
been interested in art since she was a young child and has been
painting since 1989. She works primarily in Acrylic, Gouache,
and Mixed Media, typically with vibrant colors. Her works are
of a contemporary/ abstract style and the subject matter is
usually found in nature. Rachel is also a bookbinder and has
been making hand-bound books and journals since 1999. She creates
the books and journals using papers decorated by hand with her
own designs. She also teaches bookbinding workshops locally.
One will usually find a sense of peace, harmony, happiness,
and energy in her works. Rachel is represented in New Orleans
at Art For The Soul gallery and the New Orleans School of Glassworks
gallery. |
